Born 1932 in a small town near Berlin, educated in Göttingen, I came to the United States in 1956, supposedly for two years. I am still here. In 1961, I married Judy Travis, and we have two sons and one granddaughter. From 1956 to 1983, I worked in sales and marketing of scientific instruments. In 1983, we moved to the Boston area where I headed a corporate division engaged in industrial water purification. Two years later, I started my own company, designing and selling large volume food processors. I sold the company in 2001 and retired. As a hobby, I dabble in graphic arts, and, at the request of my family, write my recollections as a teenager in Berlin at the end of World War II.
